HAPPY NEW YEAR

......and a safe one.
Dave has been off shopping so we have Walls sausages in fridge, and he found some different (for us!) vegetarian pies - Quorn, seeing how it's getting harder and harder to get the McCartney range (someone didn't keep their promise!) and we've also got a rather good Cheddar cheese while we can get it! So we'll see you once you've said "stuff it" to the obligatory post-Christmas diet.
Don't forget that you can place an order if needs be, the next major shop is at beginning February.

Christmas shopping

I have already some Christmassy things in stock such as the puds, cakes, loose crackers (1 euro p/p!) and mince pies. Some people have asked me about turkeys etc. but quite honestly it would cost so much.....! If you live in the Leiden area there are a couple of "pouliers" I know of, one which definitely takes Christmas orders and he's situated on the Lange Mare ( the street off from the church on the Harlemmerstraat) and there's also an organic place further up the Harlemmerstraat in a wide alleyway opposite the model shop. If you're not planning on the turkey there are quite a lot of good butchers around and you'll usually get what your after. BUT, we can get it for you from the UK if you wish!
The next shopping trip is on the 10th so if you do have any orders - especially for cakes I need them in the next few days please so that I can place my orders.

next shopping trip 31/08/06

The summer holidays are nearly over so it's time for another shopping trip. This will be on the Thurs 31st August, so as from the Fri then is the time to come in for the sausages, fresh pies, crumpets etc.
Apparantly that old chestnut that we've closed down, or we've moved is doing the rounds.
After more than 3 years we're still going in Korevaarstraat and, as we've moved house as many times there is no chance of us moving shop! so I now hope that these vicious rumours are to be quashed.
I've already mentioned about the holidays coming to an end and although I hate to mention Christmas this early on but I need to start getting on with that type of shopping so if you could let us know what type of items your interested in having.......

Next shopping trip

The next planned trip will be 3rd April (excellent timing, we'd have just moved house!)
Easter eggs are on the agenda along with the usual - sausages, bakery goods......
With the Easter eggs, as with the Christmas goodies, it's best to pre-order so as not to be disappointed!

What's in stock?

Below on the left side is a list of what we've stocked in the past. There are some items that wont be found on our shelves anymore and that's because either they just didn't sell well or they can now be found in the Dutch supermarkets and can be bought considerably cheaper. (We do sell Heinz baked beans, although not as cheap, but they are BRITISH!)
Robinsons hi juice drinks, although I like the taste not many other people do.
I have noticed that some supermarkets (I'm not going to name them, would they give me free advertising?!!) are beginning to sell a few of the goods that I stock so will have to see who breaks first, I guess!
I've stopped with some of the frozen puddings, meat & vegetarian convenience foods (such as the Dalepak escalops) but Dave has found a couple of replacements and for some reason the veggie dry goods seem to be "out of stock" when I order them so I shall have to have a bit of a rant at that supplier!
There's a few other bits - Knorr stock cubes, Old El Paso sauces, a couple of the soups that are no longer stocked but pretty much everything else is in the shop.

Oh yes, cheese. I'll be honest in saying that's always a tricky one knowing when people have got the taste for it. I nearly always have Cheddar, red Leicester and double Gloucester but Wensleydale, Cheshire, Stilton and any other will have to be pre-ordered if you don't mind!

Oh yes, Walkers are no longer producing the worcester sauce or pickled onion flavour crisps so I hear. Apparantly they're bad for your health!
